The CIFFA Cargo Security Committee’s mandate is to advocate in the interests of the membership and industry as it relates to the development of Cargo Security initiatives that impact not only Airfreight but the Supply Chain in its entirety. By participating actively in high level panels, industry working groups and committees with Government agencies such as Transport Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency, CIFFA enables members to have a strong voice in the development of government policies that meet the needs of today’s global security environment. At the same time, the Security Committee ensures that these policies are practical, cost efficient and can be realistically implemented in a complex business climate. CIFFA raises concerns, informs and negotiates on behalf of the membership.
Communicating progress to members on all the initiatives at every step in the process is paramount. CIFFA is committed to maintaining an open dialogue locally, nationally and internationally with other associations and agencies, developing strong relationships with other key stakeholders in the industry.
In addition to advocating on behalf of Members, the Security Committee mandate includes developing training programs that educate and keep the industry at the forefront of security related changes and initiatives. Programs are developed in conjunction with the progress and direction of government policies and regulations, to enhance the level of knowledge and skills of our members.
By maintaining a leadership role we bring forward our strong voice and promote Member interests. Through the Association’s activities, CIFFA is in an excellent position to meet the needs of our mandate.
To assist our members in complying with the new Transport Canada requirements, CIFFA has developed and conducts Air Cargo Security training programs:
