Air Cargo Security Training Programs

Recently Transport Canada introduced a national Air Cargo Security Program to the Canadian supply chain, with the intent of:
  • Improving aviation security;

  • Satisfying international partners; and

  • Addressing acts of bad faith.

Transport Canada has issued a Memorandum of Understanding to a large number of companies in Canada who are part of the supply chain, and who wish to join the Air Cargo Security Program and become Regulated Agents.

The MOU sets certain security requirements for the supply chain industry (as well as for any 3rd party service providers acting on their behalf).  The MOU includes the completion of an Air Cargo Security Plan, its acceptance by Transport Canada, and completion of mandated air cargo security training.

To assist with this mandated training, CIFFA has developed 3 training programs that meet the requirements of Transport Canada and the new Air Cargo Security Program:  Cargo Security Coordinator (CSC), Authorized Cargo Representative (ACR), General Awareness (GEN).

Note:  Without having an MOU and CSP (including air cargo security training), a company cannot become a Regulated Agent, and it therefore is in jeopardy of having their shipments stopped, delayed or security expenses incurred.
