This introduction to Logistics and Supply Chain Management concepts includes discussions on Technology and the increasingly important Green Logistics. Introduces basic concepts of Sales and Marketing.
Program Goals:
- Define the difference between supply chain management and logistics management
- Describe the synchronized flow of information, products and funds through the supply chain
- Discuss complexities, e.g. declining margins, forecasting, competition etc.
- Examine the internal/external supply chain and the internal/external customer
- Describe the logistic functions within the supply chain
- Describe process mapping, benchmarking and total quality management (TQM)
- Discuss leading change in logistics (inventory, challenges, production and push and pull distribution)
- Examine technology in logistics planning ( ERP , APS, AI and GIS)
- Discuss supply chain Event management (SCEM)
- Discuss outsourcing benefits, challenges and partnerships
- Discuss growth in international trade and the driving forces behind globalization
- Discuss the effects of competencies, government regulation, transportation, finance and risk management
- Describe the role and concept of marketing within an organization
- Discuss marketing strategies setting company goals and objectives
- Discuss the purpose of marketing research
- Recognize and define consumer behaviour
- Navigate the market management process
- Discuss the fundamentals of pricing , strategies, skimming, penetration, Target return, product line, product line, captive product pricing etc...
- Discuss the importance of marketing, distribution, promotion and personal selling
- Discuss the marketing mix product, price, place and promotion
Target Audience:
This program is primarily designed
to meet the education needs of two main groups:
- Individuals who have experience in the international transportation, trade,
logistics and supply chain industries and wish to acquire advanced skills and
knowledge to make them more employable.
- Individuals currently working in the international transportation, trade,
logistics and supply chain industries, but wish to upgrade their new skills and
knowledge for possible career advancement.
Prerequisites:
There are no
prerequisites, but knowledge of the international transportation, trade,
logistics and supply chain industries will be beneficial.
Good knowledge of English (verbal, writing and reading) is a must,
as is knowledge of basic mathematical calculations.
Prior completion of International Transportation and Trade; Essentails of Freight Forwarding and Specialized Freight Services programs is recommended.
Participants wishing
to receive an Advanced Certificate must hold a Certificate and successfully
complete Specialized Freight Services; and Supply Chain Management and Marketing
within three calendar years. |
