Air
DG Recurrent (IATA)
Program Description
This two day Recurrent Program updates the participant with
the recent changes to the regulations of dealing with Dangerous
Goods shipments, internationally, by air. this training
is required every two years, to maintain compliance and should
occur within the calendar year of the Training Certificate's
expiration date.
This program has been designed to assist Shipper's, Freight
Forwarder's, Importers/Exporters, and Airline Acceptance Agents
in continuing to meet their responsibilities in dealing with
Dangerous Goods shipments, according to the current International
Air Transport Association's Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA
DGR), and the applicable parts of the Canadian TDGR.
CIFFA is an IATA Dangerous Goods Accredited School, and as
such meets its stringent requirements and high standards.
Our program also meets the requirements of the Canadian Transportation
of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.
This Recurrent Program will focus on package marking and labelling,
and documenting Dangerous Goods shipments. It is expected
that the participant has a strong knowledge of Air Dangerous
Goods, prior to attending this Recurrent Program. Pre-Course
Reading and passing a Pre-Course Test is required for someone
to register on the 2-Day Recurrent Program. An
additional section on the current Canadian Transportation
of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) is included.
Lecture, discussion, handouts, exercises, group activities,
and case studies will provide the participant with an enhanced
learning environment.
The current edition of the IATA DGR is used as the main reference
source for this program, and is provided for the participant's
use while attending this program. Participants are provided
a personal copy of handouts and exercises, which may be used
later as on the job reference material.
Prerequisites
IATA Initial, within the previous two years, and recent experience
in the air
transportation industry is a MUST to attend the Recurrent
Program. It is
expected that the participant has detailed knowledge of the
following topics,
which will only be reviewed in a Pre-Course Reading Material
package prior
to attending the Recurrent Program: Applicability, Limitations,
classification, Identification, Packing, and Package
Specifications.
If
your Dangerous Goods qualification has lapsed, if you deal
with Dangerous Goods
shipments only on an occasional basis, it is strongly recommended that
you attend the Initial 3-Day Program instead.
Although
not a legal requirement, it is highly recommended by CIFFA
that a person
dealing with Dangerous Goods shipments by air requalifies
every 12 months.
Failure to update your training when the regulations change
(i.e. IATA
every January 1, TDGR), may put you and your company in a
position where
your Training Certificate is no longer valid.
