Building on a strong foundation

CIFFA’s new Executive Director Bruce Rodgers on what’s ahead for the association.

It is very tough to replace a legacy individual. Such is the case at CIFFA, as Ruth Snowden retires after 11 years of dedicated, committed and loyal service to the freight forwarding community. Ruth has worked tirelessly in her efforts to support our members and has built a tremendous, well respected awareness of CIFFA in local, domestic and international markets.

Our mission is to represent and support members of the Canadian International Freight Forwarding industry in providing the highest level of quality and professional services to their clients.

Our Mission Statement is simple but carries a depth of meaning and commitment. It is my mandate to continue to build on the strong foundation created under Ruth’s leadership and guidance, while focusing on what truly matters to our members. I am both honored and proud to be stepping into the role, but not the heels, of my predecessor.

We will continue in our efforts to update our programs and offerings. A few of the initiatives that will be launched in 2019 are as follows: a new Ethics Program, focusing on creating a culture of trust, accountability and integrity; a media page to deliver relevant information affecting our industry; job portal board identifying available positions; an enhanced Advanced Certificate program (which will also be renamed); expanded focus on our Professional Freight Forwarder designation; and an updated Affinity program offering benefits to all members.

We carefully consider the input and commentary our members provide and have recently surveyed members for their opinions on our informative, daily eBulletin. The feedback that was provided will factor into some of the new initiatives that will be presented. We will soon be introducing another Member Satisfaction Survey, which I encourage all to complete. Your opinions truly do matter and we are listening.

I believe that we have a very strong brand and are well positioned as the trusted voice of the freight forwarding industry. I am open to your opinion of what matters, what needs to improve and ultimately, what can be done to increase membership value. I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to meeting with you at future industry networking events.
