This 3-day program is for shippers and freight forwarders  with no experience in dealing with dangerous goods by air, or who have let their previous air DG certificate expire for more than 12 months.  

CIFFA is an IATA and FIATA-ICAO Dangerous Goods Authorized Training School (ATS), and as such meets its stringent requirements and high standards.

This program provides both general background information, as well as detailed information on identification, packing, marking, labelling and documenting Dangerous Goods. Lecture, discussion, handouts, exercises, group activities, and case studies will provide the participant with an enhanced learning environment. The current edition of the IATA DGR is used as the main reference source for this program, and is provided for the participant's use while attending this program. Participants are provided a personal copy of handouts and exercises, which may be used later as on the job reference material. A certificate in categories 6, as per table 1.5.A of the IATA Dangerous goods regulations is provided after successfully completing this course. The course is taught from the perspective of the freight forwarder.

Our program also meets the requirements of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.

Day 1 – Introduction, How to Use the Regulations, Applicability, Limitations, Classification, Identification, Packing, Package Specifications   

Day 2 - Marking and Labelling, Documentation, Handling, Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (including basic Emergency Procedures)    

Day 3 - Limitations, Case Studies, Examination

Learning Objectives:
This program has been designed to assist Freight Forwarder's with their responsibilities in dealing with Dangerous Goods shipments, according to the current International Air Transport Association's Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR), and the applicable parts of the Canadian TDGR.
Target Audience:
Refer to the IATA DGR table 1.5.A for a description of shipper, freight forwarder and operator job descriptions that require certification in shipping dangerous goods by air.
