CIFFA regular freight forwarding member firms meet a higher standard.  As required by the by-laws, they agree to abide by the CIFFA Code of Ethics, carry at least a minimum forwarder’s liability insurance including errors and omissions, and meet training requirements with respect to the handling of dangerous goods and vocational training in every location where international freight services are offered.  CIFFA’s national Standard Trading Conditions (STCs) level the playing field in Canada.  These conditions, which govern the relationship between the forwarder and the customer, are regularly upheld in Canadian courts.  Shippers can be assured that when they work with a CIFFA freight forwarding company, they are working within a proven set of trading conditions.
