2026 Spring Forwarder Magazine

18 THE FORWARDER | SPRING 2026 On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, CITT and CIFFA proudly co- hosted their Annual Student Career Fair & Networking Afternoon in partnership with Centennial College’s Supply Chain and Logistics programs. Held at the Centennial College Event Centre at the Progress Campus in Scarborough, the event once again demonstrated the strength of collaboration between industry and education in developing the next generation of supply chain professionals. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the 2026 edition was designed to achieve a clear and important goal: to connect employers and working professionals directly with students preparing to enter the supply chain, logistics, and transportation workforce. By creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue, mentorship, and recruitment, the event helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry experience. The afternoon began with registration at 12:30 p.m., followed by welcome remarks from Chrissy Aitchison, CAO of CITT, and Stephen McDermott, CTDP, representing CIFFA. An engaging video presentation highlighted CIFFA’s work and the vital role freight forwarders play in keeping global trade moving. A featured panel discussion, “Careers that Keep the World Moving,” offered students valuable insights into the evolving realities of supply chain careers. Panelists included Victoria Jones (Tyers Foods International Inc.), Robert Langille (Groupe Robert), and Noah Sidenberg (Arrive Logistics). Moderated by Centennial student Melissa Liang, the conversation explored the skills, adaptability, and leadership qualities that will define tomorrow’s industry professionals. Denise Ponte, Chair of the CITT Toronto Area Council, also extended a warm welcome and highlighted upcoming council initiatives that continue to strengthen the professional community. The networking and job fair portion of the event, running from 2:40 to 4:00 p.m., was a vibrant hub of activity. Participating organizations—including 4Refuel, Canmur, Celestica, Chemtrade Logistics Inc., Conceptum Logistics Group, DECIEM, deugro, DTA Services Ltd., Expeditors, Groupe Robert, Manitoulin Transport, Röhlig Logistics, Trans-Ontario Express, and Universal Logistics—met directly with students to discuss career paths, collect résumés, and share industry advice. Light refreshments helped create an informal and welcoming environment conducive to conversation and connection. The event also underscored the importance of sustained partnership. Centennial’s Associate Dean Amanda Stone, along with faculty members Vickie McInnis, Steve Bishop, Mauro Spies, and many others, continue to champion experiential learning and strong industry engagement. Numerous CCLP and CCLMP designation holders were also in attendance, demonstrating the profession’s commitment to mentorship and leadership. For CIFFA members, the Career Fair represents more than a recruitment opportunity. It is a strategic investment in the future of Canada’s freight forwarding and logistics sector— ensuring that emerging professionals understand the diverse career pathways available and are welcomed into a strong, supportive industry community. CITT and CIFFA are proud to continue co-organizing this important annual initiative and look forward to building on its momentum in the years ahead.
