Transporting dangerous goods by ship is a unique situation.  Due to the large quantities that are involved, the lengthy travel times, and other transportation factors (heat, humidity, exposure to water, severe movement, etc.

The International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Dangerous Goods Code specifies the requirements that must be followed. A thorough knowledge of dangerous goods must be obtained before you move dangerous goods by ship.

A current edition of the IMDG Code is required to complete this training.

Final passing grade (%) : 80
Certificate Expiry : Must be renewed every 36 months

Some knowledge of dangerous goods and experience in the ocean freight industry are an asset, but are not required. 

Schedule & Topics:

Students are given 3 weeks to complete the course.

It is estimated that persons without previous Maritime   DG training may take 7 to 9 hours to complete the e-Learning Program, while   students with previous Maritime DG training may only need 3 to 5 hours.   Of course, these are estimates only and individuals may take as much time or as little time as they need for comprehension of the topics.

Learning Objectives:
Our Maritime Dangerous Goods Training Program is designed to assist you in helping your clients move dangerous goods efficiently and safely.
Target Audience:
Shore based personnel engaged in the transport of dangerous goods intended to be transported by sea.  Training is required in the contents of dangerous goods provisions commensurate with their responsibilities.  See chapter 1.3 of the IMDG code, specifically for specific training requirements required by function.
