Leveraging Canada’s Labour Advantage – A Team Canada Approach to Labour Relations
CIFFA Corp. represents over 14,000 member employees of freight forwarders, customs brokers, freight brokers, drayage truckers, and warehousing firms across Canada. Our association’s members manage approximately 80% of the country’s import and export trade.
Air, rail, and marine trade corridors, along with trucking, are the backbone of Canada’s economy and greatly impact how successful our nation will be at diversifying our global trade opportunities. In recent years however, repeated work stoppages have severely disrupted supply chains, eroded confidence in Canada as a dependable trading partner, and inflicting billions of dollars in economic losses.
Considering this, CIFFA is officially providing several considerations for the enhancement of industrial labour relations in Canada amidst the backdrop of these debilitating work stoppages, all which have seriously eroded Canada’s reputation as a reliable trading partner internationally and will continue to harm our economic interests unless strong leadership is shown on this file. Our proposals respect constitutionally protected labour rights while safeguarding Canada’s economic future. (Read full proposal.)
