Transporting dangerous goods by ship is a unique situation.  Due to the large quantities that are involved, the lengthy travel times, and other transportation factors (heat, humidity, exposure to water, severe movement, etc.

The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Dangerous Goods Code specifies the requirements that must be followed. A thorough knowledge of dangerous goods must be obtained before you move dangerous goods by ship.

A current edition of the IMDG Code is required to complete this training.

A Cargo Security Coordinator (CSC) is known as:  A senior company representative who has the responsibility and authority to manage air cargo security issues and to liaise with Transport Canada as necessary.” The CSC is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of the Cargo Security Plan for an individual or multiple sites. 

Training is done via an e-Learning program, available 24/7. Plan on 5-6 hours for completion of the CSC e-Learning Program.

CIFFA Air Cargo Security training for Cargo Security Coordinators (CSCs) has been fully revised and narrated to include the changes coming into force on October 17th, 2016. This updated course is suitable for new CSCs or as a refresher training. It is also suitable for Known Consignors, Regulated Agents or Certified Agents.

Note* This course does not include cargo screener training for any Transport Canada approved screening methods.

Schulich/CIFFA Virtual classes are offered for the busy professional who requires flexibility in their career development.  The virtual class offers recorded lectures, and independent projects that are completed weekly on your time, as well as live lectures, delivered once per week in the evening by a Schulich instructor.

The Air Dangerous Goods online recurrent course is a narrated and interactive course that mirrors the structure of the classroom course provided by CIFFA.  To complete the course, students MUST have a recent edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.  This training is required every two years, to maintain compliance and should occur within the calendar year of the Training Certificate’s expiration date.  CIFFA is an IATA and FIATA/ICAO Authorized Training School (ATS), and as such meets their stringent requirements and high standards. Our program also meets the requirements of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.

A FIATA/ICAO dangerous goods certificate is issued upon successful completion of this course which is recognized by IATA agents. 

• Certification: FIATA/ICAO recurrent certificate

• Examinations: Administered on successful completion on each lesson.  A passing grade of 80% is required
